investment decisions: Tesla, BASF and Microvast
Californians will have noticed: the Greater Berlin area is the site of Tesla´s 4th GIGAFACTORY. On November 12, 2019, Elon Musk announced the construction of a gigafactory here. Brandenburg has thus won the international competition for the most sought-after location of the moment! The news catapulted the location into the Champions League of electric mobility.

In the wake of this decicion, the world´s largest chemical company, BASF, in February 2020 announced to build a new facility to produce battery
cathode materiel in Schwarzheide, in the south of Brandenburg, for 400,000
electric vehicles per year.
Another investment in recent weeks concerning eMobility is that of Texas based Microvast, Inc. in Ludwigsfelde/Brandenburg (the home of Mercedes Benz light trucks). From December 2020 onwards, the new factory will produce battery systems for trucks and SUVs. This means at least 250 new manufacturing jobs.
Investments pay off in Brandenburg
Since the Berlin Wall came down, Brandenburg has developed into a prospering business location. In a recent analysis by the German Economic Institute (IW), 3 of the 10 most dynamic among the 401 German counties and independent cities are situated in Brandenburg. Companies which settle in the strong industrial state of Brandenburg around the federal capital of Berlin benefit from the best conditions. Investing here pays off.

New Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) to open in October 2020
Originally, the new airport was to open in 2012. Due to difficulties with several installations (among them the fire protection system), a lengthy rehaul had to take place. Now, finally, the airport is scheduled to open in October 2020.
